INDIANA STATE GAME NOTES

NOTES
  • The Series: Sunday marks the 62nd meeting between the Sycamores and Panthers in a series that the Sycamores lead, 37-24. Eastern Illinois claimed the victory over ISU last season in Charleston, 63-39.
  • It Starts with Defense: The Sycamores made things difficult for Kansas in their season debut on Thursday, forcing the Jayhawks into 17 turnovers and coming up with 13 steals. Freshmen Sommer Pitzer and Del'Janae Williams each earned three steals, while Pitzer and Jasmine Elder also recorded charges for the blue and white. The 13-steal performance currently sits at second in the Valley during opening week.
  • A Balanced Attack: In their season-opening defeat to Kansas, Indiana State got offensive contributions from all 10 players who touched the floor. JUCO transfers Marie Hunter and LeAndra Echi led the way for the blue and white with 18 and 12 points, respectively while both also brought down five rebounds. As a team, five Sycamores scored seven or more points.
  • Fresh Look Sycamores: Indiana State women's basketball will look completely different during the 2019-20 season as the Sycamores welcome 14 newcomers to the program, the most in Division I. The Trees are the only school in NCAA Division I women's basketball to welcome a completely new roster that features eight freshmen and six junior college transfers (five juniors and one sophomore).
  • Road Warriors: The Sycamores will have to be road warriors to start off the 2019-20 season as Hulman Center is under renovation. Because of those renovations, ISU will spend nearly its first month of the year and seven-straight games on the road before finally returning home to host Marshall in the Hulman Center on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
  • About the Panthers: Eastern Illinois returns eight athletes and four starters from last year's team that finished the season 11-18. The Panthers did open the 2019-20 season with a home victory over Lindenwood, 88-66, and were led by sophomore guard Jordyn Hughes with 24 points, including four triples.
