ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Indiana State's
Dominique Dafney earned Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player of the Week as well as Newcomer of the Week honors following his performance at Missouri State Saturday. The honor marks the first of Dafney's career and the fourth and fifth honor from the Conference office for the Sycamores in 2019.
Against the Bears, Dafney recorded the fourth-best single game rushing performance in program history after totaling 244 yards on the ground out of the wildcat. The redshirt senior went for a total of five touchdowns in the game, finishing with four rushing scores and one receiving touchdown.
After putting ISU ahead 7-0 in the first quarter on a 19-yard receiving touchdown, Dafney found the end zone early in the second to extend the lead. An Iowa native, Dafney put on a show in the second half, rushing for a career long 57-yard touchdown on the Sycamores' first possession in the third quarter.
Dafney went on to run in a 41-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter before punching in his fourth rushing touchdown of the day with nine minutes left to play.
