TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women's volleyball earned their first sweep of the season on Friday, defeating Southern Illinois in a four-set match at the ISU Arena.

Canada Night brings good luck to the Sycamores, as ISU was victorious on Canada Night last season as well, defeating Bradley 3-1. ISU improved to 6-19 (4-11) with the win on Friday.

The Sycamores used a balanced offensive attack to help down the Salukis, led by 15 kills from
Nikkie White and 10 from
Madeline Williams. Redshirt senior
Cassie Kawa added nine kills of her own and ISU ended the night with 49 to SIU's 51. The Trees, however, did hit better than the SIU, .194-.125.

Freshman setter
Chloe Mason helped keep the offense moving, tallying 24 assists on the night while
Mary Hannah Lewis also chipped-in 13 of her own. Southern Illinois held the advantage, however, 48-45.

Defensively, Indiana State was dominant. As a team, ISU finished with 94 digs for a 23.5 digs-per-set average while Southern Illinois finished with 77.
Melina Tedrow recorded 24 digs, her 14th match over 20 digs, to lead all athletes, but additional Sycamores recorded more than 10 digs as well.

At the net, Kawa, White and Williams were in control all night. Kawa earned a solo block with three block assists, White had five block assists and Williams earned one solo and four assists. As a team, the Trees had the advantage in blocks, 10-6.

The Sycamores are back in action tomorrow evening, Nov. 16, for senior night when they welcome the Missouri State Bears to town at 5 p.m. in the ISU Arena.

Set One - Southern Illinois 25, Indiana State 21
- ISU struggled offensively, hitting just .091 for the period.
- Lewis led the defensive effort with seven digs.
- ISU did end with more kills (12-11) and digs (24-22) than the Salukis.

Set Two - Indiana State 25, Southern Illinois 20
- The blue and white had one of their best offensive sets of the year, hitting .306 with 14 kills.
- White earned six of her 15 kills in the second frame.
- Mason dished out six assists.
- The Sycamores held the defensive advantage with 23 digs to SIU's 18.

- ISU and SIU both finished with 13 kills.
- Tedrow tallied eight digs to lead all athletes in the set.
- Mason recorded eight of ISU's 13 assists.

- Indiana State hit better than the Salukis, .212-.042.
- Kawa and White each recorded three block assists, helping give ISU an advantage at the net, 5-1.
- Tedrow finished the frame with nine digs of the Sycamores' 20.
