Five Things to Know
- Quick Turnaround
Indiana State used almost its entire bench in a physical game at Missouri State Friday then had to travel to Carbondale, about a five-hour drive, on Saturday in preparation of Sunday's game. Meanwhile, while SIU was at home the Salukis had five players with over 32 minutes played against Evansville on Friday. Both teams will be battling each other and exhaustion in Sunday's contest.
- End Perfection
Not only does Indiana State have a chance to return to the win column Sunday and avenge last season's heartbreaking postseason loss, the Trees could also play spoilers and hand Southern Illinois its first home loss of the season. SIU's home winning streak currently stands at nine games dating back to last season.
- One to 100
Ashli O'Neal is one of the most effective players in the nation in steals, ranking 28th nationally with an average of 3.8 steals per game. The junior needs just one more swipe to make it an even 100 steals for her career.
- It's a Common Theme
Talking steals, you say? Indiana State knows all about that. ISU ranks 38th in the nation and first in the Valley with an average of 10.9 steals per game. That is up from last year's Valley-leading 9.8 steals per game that ranked 51st nationally.
- Charging Up
With two charges drawn at Missouri State on Friday, Indiana State is up to 22 charges drawn this season. That mark is led by Ashli O'Neal's 12 charges drawn as the junior has drawn two in each of the last three games she has played in. An unofficial stat, Indiana State is believed to lead the league in charges drawn with two more than Missouri State.
