Five Things to Know
- Sycamores Tied for Valley Lead in Close Wins
Despite Friday's result, Indiana State still remains in a tie (with Bradley and Valparaiso) for the most one-possession wins in the Missouri Valley Conference. The Sycamores, along with Bradley and Valpo, each have three wins in those close games. A one possession game is defined by a result of four points or less.
- Tree Defense Stands Tall
Indiana State's defensive effort is something to take note of this year. ISU's scoring defense ranks 139th nationally and second in the Valley, limiting opponents to 62.8 points per game. That includes holding league-leading Drake to just 28 points in the first half on Jan. 25, the Bulldogs' lowest first half scoring output of the season. Additionally, ISU is limiting opponents to just 86.6 points per 100 possessions, a mark that ranks 83rd nationally and in the top 30% of the country.
- C the Steals?
A trio of Sycamores have recorded 100 or more career steals while in the Wabash Valley. Regan Wentland became the third to hit the 100 steal mark on Jan. 25 in the Sycamores' near upset of Drake. Tierra Webb (148), Ashli O'Neal (111) and Wentland (100) have all reached the century mark in career steals for the Sycamores.
- Home Court Advantage
As Indiana State hosts conference play at home this weekend, the Sycamores are looking to record a winning home conference record this year for the 17th time in the last 20 seasons. Since the Missouri Valley Conference adopted women's athletics with the 1992-93 season, Indiana State has recorded a winning league record at home in 20 of the 26 seasons in Valley play. The Sycamores are 3-3 at home this year entering Sunday's game.
- Turnovers the Norm
Indiana State opponents must be maddened when facing the Sycamores as ISU opponents turnover the ball on 25.6 percent of their possessions. That turnover rate for opponents ranks sixth in the nation while the average of 21.5 turnovers per game Sycamore opponents are averaging ranks 19th nationally. Both marks lead The Valley.
