TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indiana State returns to action Saturday, Sept. 8 when the Sycamores make their way to Louisville to take on the Cardinals. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET from Cardinal Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra. Jim Barber will handle the play-by-play duties while John Gregory will serve as the color commentator.

• Indiana State trails the all-time series with Louisville, 3-6-1 in a series dating back to 1939. ISU's last meeting with the Cardinals came in 2009, when UL won 30-10. The Sycamores took the first meeting with Louisville in 1939 with a 7-0 homecoming victory. After a 0-0 tie in 1940, Louisville went on to win five of the next six meetings before the Sycamores defeated the Cardinals 44-21 in 1984.
• Last weeks' season opening win against Quincy snapped a 14-game losing streak for the Sycamore football program dating back to the 2016 season. ISU's last victory before the opener was a 22-14 win at Southern Illinois. The victory also marked the first win for head coach Curt Mallory and his staff since taking over the program in January of 2017.
• The Sycamores finished their opener with 423 yards of total offense but a vast majority of those yards came from the ground game where ISU recorded 339 yards and all six touchdowns. Eight Sycamores ran the ball, led by sophomore Titus McCoy who had 81 yards and a score, edging out senior Ja'Quan Keys who finished with 80 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Quarterback Jalil Kilpatrick added 69 yards and a touchdown while freshman Christian Covington had 10 carries for 64 yards and two scores. The Sycamores rank sixth in the country in total rushing yards after week one.
• Indiana State returns 13 starters from a year ago, including six on the offensive side of the ball and seven on defense. The Sycamores' top returners include RB Ja'Quan Keys (208 yards rushing, two touchdowns); LB Jonas Griffith (107 tackles, 5.5 sacks); LB Katrell Moss (101 tackles, nine tackles for loss); DB Rondell Green (66 tackles, two interceptions). ISU also brings back five offensive linemen with game experience.
• Freshman Dakota Caton was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, following week one. Caton, a Sullivan, Indiana native made his Sycamore debut on Thursday against Quincy and on his first touch in an Indiana State uniform, he electrified the crowd at Memorial Stadium with a 71-yard punt return touchdown. The touchdown marked the first punt return touchdown in nearly three years for the Sycamores with the last coming by way of Tyler Denton at Missouri State in 2015.
