TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indiana State will play in its third tournament of the fall on Monday and Tuesday, October 1-2 when they make the short trip over to Indianapolis to participate in the Butler Fall Invitational. The event will be held at the Highland Golf Club which will play as a par-72, 6,204-yard layout this week.
The Sycamores will use the lineup of
Abigail Irwin,
Thilda Staubo,
Kayla Ryan,
Sierra Hargens and
Lauren Green.
Madison Branum and
Sophie Benetti will compete as individuals in the tournament.Â
ISU carded its best round of the year when they posted a 307 on the final day of the Ball State Cardinal Classic two weeks ago. The Sycamores placed in a tie for 10th as part of the large field. Last season
Sierra Hargens took home medalist honors when she won a three-way, four-hole playoff to win her first collegiate tournament.
"We love playing at Highlands and with Butler," head coach
Greg Towne said. "Bill Mattingly is a great coach and has a nice event. The course is challenging and we have had some good finishes there. Sierra hopes to have a chance to repeat as individual champion and It's nice to be close to home and have some local fans come out to support us."
Indiana State will take on Chicago State, Delaware State, Evansville, Green Bay, UIC, Butler, IUPUI, Marian, and St. Francis. Indiana also has several players competing as individuals. Â
The tournament will consist of one 18 hole round each day. The action gets underway on Monday with a 9 a.m. (ET) shotgun start.
