CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – Laura Gross led the Sycamores with nine kills but Northern Iowa had three players reach double-digits as Indiana State dropped a 3-0 decision Monday night in Missouri Valley Conference action at the McLeod Center.

Indiana State (7-8, 0-3), playing in its third match in four days, hit .114 with no player swinging above the .200 mark. Northern Iowa (8-6, 2-0), which hasn't hit the court since Friday in nearby Des Moines, hit .261 as a team and was led by Karlie Taylor's 16 kills.

ISU did post a 4-2 advantage in blocks with
Damadj Johnson assisting on three of those four. She now moves into a tie for sixth all-time at Indiana State with 243 career block assists.

Set scores were 25-17, 25-21 and 25-18.

SET 1 – Northern Iowa 25, Indiana State 17
- Jade York served up her eighth ace of the year in Monday's opening set.
- York led the Trees defensively with six digs.
- Rhiannon Morozoff led ISU with three kills in the opening set.
SET 2 – Northern Iowa 25, Indiana State 18
- Laura Gross led the Sycamores with four kills in the set.
- Four different ISU players were credited with three digs each.
- The Sycamores hit .250 as a team in the set while UNI hit .279.
- Indiana State led 15-8 before UNI rallied back, ending the set on an 8-2 run.
SET 3 – Northern Iowa 25, Indiana State 18
NOTABLES
- Northern Iowa now leads the all-time series over Indiana State, 61-4. The Panthers have won six straight in the series.
- This marks the fourth match of the season that Indiana State has faced a team receiving votes in the Top 25 poll (Tennessee, Colorado, Colorado State).
- Damadj Johnson registered three block assists in the match, moving into a tie for sixth all-time at Indiana State with 243 career block assists. She matches the mark set by Brittanie Stowell (2001-04).
- Laura Gross led the Sycmaores in kills for the 12th consecutive match.
