BOULDER, Colo. – Indiana State out-blocked Colorado and improved upon its offensive output but the Sycamores still were unable to stop Colorado's stampede in a 3-0 loss to the host Buffaloes as part of the Colorado Classic at the CU Events Center in Boulder Saturday.
Laura Gross led Indiana State (6-5) with nine kills and two aces while the Blue and Whtie registered seven blocks to Colorado's six. But the difference maker came in the form of Buffalo outside hitter Alexa Smith and her 19 kills in the match.
ISU also registered four service aces to CU's one but Colorado (7-3), a team that is receiving votes in the top 25 poll, hit .252 to Indiana State's .125 in the match.
Set scores were 25-16, 25-18 and 25-23.
SET 1 – Colorado 25, Indiana State 16
SET 2 – Colorado 25, Indiana State 18
- The back-and-forth set featured eight ties and five lead changes.
- Laura Gross paced ISU with three kills.
- Colorado out-hit Indiana State, .238 to .133.

- Three of Indiana State's four service aces came in the third set.
- ISU out-blocked CU, 4 to 1, in the final frame.
- Laura Gross and Nikkie White each led ISU with three kills.
