KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Laura Gross posted her 26th career double-double and led all players with 11 kills as Indiana State claimed a 3-0 win over Winthrop Saturday morning at the Rocky Top Invitational.

Set scores were 25-11, 25-18 and 25-16.

The 14-point opening set win marked the largest margin of victory in a single set since a 25-6 win over Bradley in 2015. That set the tone for a match where the Sycamores (4-1) were able to cruise to the victory and kept Winthrop (0-6) battling from a deficit.

Jade York posted a match-high 17 digs for Indiana State (4-1) leading a defensive effort that held the Eagles to a -.016 hitting percentage. Indiana State also led in total blocks, 8-1. Madeline Williams registered a season and career high six block assists while Damadj Johnson's five block assists pushed her to 208 career block assists, tying Stephanie Volden (2006-09) for 10th in school history.

SET 1 – Indiana State 25, Winthrop 11
- Laura Gross put down 8 of her 11 kills in the match in the opening set, hitting .500.
- Indiana State hit .394 to Winthrop's .000 in the set.

- For the second straight match, Indiana State's defense held Winthrop to a .000 hitting percentage. The close score came about as the Sycamores only hit .077.
- Madeline Williams led ISU with three kills in the set.
- Damadj Johnson led the Trees with two block assists.
SET 3 – Indiana State 25, Winthrop 16
- Freshman Madeline Williams led all players in the set with five kills and three block assists.
- Indiana State held Winthrop to a -.048 hitting percentage while hitting .256.
- The Sycamores out-blocked Winthrop, 4-0.
