FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Indiana State's
Damadj Johnson and
Jade York have been named to the Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational All-Tournament Team after guiding the Sycamores to a runner-up finish in the season-opening tournament.

The Sycamores went 2-1 to open the year, defeating Liberty (3-1) and host Purdue Fort Wayne (3-0) before falling to Oakland, 3-2, in a dramatic five-set thriller.

Johnson hit .242 (32-16-66) over the weekend and averaging 2.67 kills per set. She tallied 32 kills in total, reaching double-digits twice including a weekend-best 13 kills against Liberty. Johnson was also a force at the net with 15 total blocks (1.25 per set) including an impressive nine total blocks (2 solo, 7 assist) against Oakland.

York led the defensive effort for the Sycamores with 49 total digs – an average of 4.08 per set – including a weekend-best 20 digs against Liberty. She posted double-digit digs in all three matches while also adding six assists.

Indiana State returns to action on Friday, Aug. 31 when the Sycamores face North Florida in the opening match of the Tennessee Classic in Knoxville, Tennessee.
