TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – For 16 years,
Vicki Hall traversed the globe playing basketball and making connections. Then for six years at Toledo she recruited international players from multiple countries. Now she is taking the Indiana State name global.
Â
Hall, entering her first year as head coach of the Sycamores, announced the addition of two international players to Indiana State's 2018-19 roster.
Â
Lynn Tamis (Netherlands) and
Ana Valero Lopez (Spain) have arrived in Terre Haute and will be part of Hall's first team in the Wabash Valley.
Â
Not only do the two additions expand an already international roster but they bring success on the international stage to Indiana State.
Â
Lynn Thomas, a 6-3 center, twice finished third in the FIBA Women's European Championship for the Netherlands, recently averaging 5.4 points and 4.9 rebounds in the 2018 U20 Championship.
Â
Ana Valero Lopez, a 6-2 forward, has won multiple national championships in her home country of Spain.
Â
The international duo instantly add height to ISU's roster and depth to the team's ranks.
Â
Tamis and Valero Lopez will make their debut in a Sycamore uniform when Indiana State opens the 2018-19 season at Marshall on Nov. 7. Their first appearance at the Hulman Center will come on Dec. 3 when the Sycamores host IUPUI in their home opener.
