ST. LOUIS – Five Sycamores on the defensive side of the ball collected Preseason Second Team All-MVFC honors Wednesday the League office announced.
Rondell Green,
Jonas Griffith,
Inoke Moala,
Rex Mosley and
Katrell Moss each were tabbed to the list bringing the team total to six preseason honors after
Jerry Nunez was named Second Team Tuesday. Preseason honors are voted on by league head coaches, media and sports information directors.
Rondell Green, RSr., DB, Bowling Green, Ky.
Finished 2017 third on the team in total tackles with 66 (44 solo) on the season...Tallied 3.5 tackles-for-loss...Recorded a season high 11 tackles against Illinois State (9/30)...Went for three tackles or more in 11 games played...Finished the year tied for second on the team with two interceptions for 21 yards, including a 17-yard return against Southern Illinois (10/21)...Led the team and finished tied for first in the MVFC with 12 pass breakups on the season with a season high three pass breakups against Western Illinois (11/11).
Jonas Griffith, RJr., LB, Louisville, Ky.
Named Second Team All-MVFC to close the 2017 season...Third in the MVFC and first on the team with 107 total tackles, including 48 solo tackles…Recorded a team-best 11 tackles for loss for 50 yards…Led the team with 5.5 sacks for 36 yards…Had one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, two pass breakups and three quarterback hurries…Recorded a career high 15 tackles against Southern Illinois…Had had five games with 10 or more tackles.
Inoke Moala, Jr., DE, Mishawaka, Ind.
Saw action in 10 games in 2017...Recorded 34 tackles (15 solo)...Finished the year with seven tackles-for-loss for 23 yards...Had two sacks on the season for 11 yards...Forced two fumbles and recovered one fumble...Finished the year with two quarterback hurries and two passes broken up...Had seven tackles (four solo) and 2.5 TFL at Tennessee (9/9)...Went for 1.5 sacks for nine yards in the season opener against Eastern Illinois (8/30)...Forced fumbles in back-to-back games against South Dakota (10/14) and Southern Illinois (10/21).
Rex Mosley, RSr., DT, Indianapolis, Ind.
Played in all 11 games on the defensive line, making 10 starts in 2017...Finished the season with 33 tackles (13 solo)...Accounted for three sacks for 20 yards to go along with 4.5 tackles-for-loss for 24 yards...Had a season high six tackles at Northern Iowa in the season finale...Recorded a sack in back-to-back games at Tennessee (9/9) and at Liberty (9/16)...Had two pass breakups in the season opener against Eastern Illinois (8/31).
Katrell Moss, RSr., LB, Indianapolis, Ind.
Named All-MVFC Honorable Mention at linebacker in 2017...Second on the team and fifth in the Missouri Valley Football Conference with 101 tackles, including 36 solo tackles during the regular season…Second on the team with 9.0 tackles for loss for 20 yards…Recorded 2.5 sacks for 10 yards…Had four games with 10 or more tackles this season…Recorded a career high 20 tackles against Southern Illinois (10/21).
The Sycamores begin the 2018 season under the lights August 30th when Quincy makes its way to Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. ET.
