TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State head softball coach
Mike Perniciaro announced a pair of transfer additions to the Sycamore roster Monday with Riley Hecklinski and Gabbi Schnaiter joining the program.
Â
Hecklinski comes to Terre Haute following a season at Indiana while Schnaiter spent the past two years at Butler.
Â
"We are excited to welcome Riley Hecklinski and Gabbi Schnaiter as Sycamores," Perniciaro said. "They will give us added depth to our team. Both bring collegiate experience to our young roster which will benefit our team throughout the upcoming season. I know they will fit into our culture of success that we are building here at Indiana State."
Â
Hecklinksi, a native of Zionsville, redshirted last season in Bloomington in her only year with the Hoosiers. She headed to IU after receiving All-State Honorable Mention honors at Zionsville High School.
Â
Schnaiter, a native of Fishers, spent the past two seasons at Butler after receiving three straight All-Hoosier Crossroads Conference honors at Fishers High School.
Â
The two transfers will add to a total of eight newcomers for the Sycamores for the 2019 season after Perniciaro and his staff signed six incoming freshmen to National Letters of Intent last fall. Hecklinski will find familiarity with Sycamore signee Annie Tokarek, a catcher who also hails from Zionsville High School.
Â
Perniciaro guided the Sycamores to a fifth-place finish in the Missouri Valley Conference in his first campaign at Indiana State, the program's best finish in league play since 1991.
