17 Sycamore track and field athletes earn MVC Scholar-Athlete honors

ST. LOUIS - The Sycamore track and field teams had 17 student-athletes named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete team for the 2018 season, the Valley announced Monday.
 
In order to be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing and hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2. They must also have finished within the top-eight of an individual event or the top-three of a relay at either the MVC Indoor or Outdoor Championships in 2017. Freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible.
 
Of the 17 total honorees for the Sycamores, seven were men and 10 were women.  On the men's side, three Sycamores are returning honorees, while the remaining four made the team for the first time in their ISU careers. The women had four returning members, with the remaining six being first-time members. Indiana State's 17 honorees were the tied for the second-most in the MVC with Southern Illinois, trailing only Illinois State's 19.
 
The honorees for the Sycamore men were: junior Ryan Cash, senior Trey Kennedy, junior Akis Medrano, senior Jaime Murtagh, senior Tristan Parmley, sophomore Josh Perry and junior Riley Smith.
 
Honored for the women were: junior Emily Brady, sophomore Shana Cooper, junior Megan Doty, senior Patrycja Dziekonska, senior Aleksey Green, junior Kim Jackson, junior Ayanna Morgan, senior Brittany Neeley, redshirt junior Cassaundra Roper and sophomore Alli Workman.
