TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State hits the road for the sixth time in seven games and quickly following Monday's home opener as the Sycamores will play at Illinois Wednesday evening at the State Farm Center in Champaign.
Â
More than just a win or loss on the record, conference pride is at stake. ISU enters the contest representing the Missouri Valley Conference, a league that has posted a 2-1 record against Big Ten teams this season. The Sycamores could make it 3-1.
Â
Wednesday's game will be broadcast live on BTN+, the subscription digital platform of the Big Ten Network. The game will also air on the Sycamore Radio Network and online at GoSycamores.com with Andrew Kappes calling the action live from Champaign.

Series History
- This will be the 11th meeting between the two teams. Indiana State won six in a row to start the series.
- The Sycamores hold a 7-3 advantage in the series but Illinois has won three of the last four meetings.
- The last Sycamore win came on March 16, 2005 (in Terre Haute, 72-60) but Indiana State enters the game looking for its first win in Champaign since Dec. 13, 1977. However, there have only been two games in C-U since then (1980, 2017).
Five Things to Know
- Quick, but Familiar Turnaround
The turnaround from the conclusion of Monday's game against IUPUI to Wednesday's tipoff at Illinois is quick, but one the Sycamores should know – it's very similar to the Friday-Sunday turnaround in Missouri Valley Conference play. "There are a lot of things that have happened and I've tried to do to prepare our teams for different things. And these are two (IUPUI and Illinois) really tough teams like UNI and Drake. It's not a coincidence," Vicki Hall said of the scheduling.
- Represent The Valley
With a 2-1 record against Big Ten teams so far this year, the Missouri Valley Conference has shown it can compete in a B1G way. A win for Indiana State could make that record 3-1 and also mark ISU's first win over a Big Ten program since 2014. But Illinois is no pushover and even handed that one Valley loss, a 73-54 win over Valparaiso on Nov. 14 in Champaign.
- Simply the Best
With a 4-0 road record this year, Indiana State is not just off to a hot start away from home, it's one of the best road marks around. ISU leads the country with a 4-0 road record while Drake sits in a tie for second at 3-0. Only 10 NCAA Division I teams have three or more road wins this season (as of Dec. 4).
- Double the Pleasure, Double the Fun
With her 12 points and 11 rebounds against IUPUI Monday night, Regan Wentland registered her second double-double of the year and of her career. She is just one of six Valley players with multiple double-doubles on the year.
- Battle for Illinois
Ty Battle is returning to a familiar court for both her and her family. She made her first career start on Dec. 7, 2017 at Illinois yet it was not the first time the name Battle was called out during the starting lineups at the arena in Champaign, Illinois. Ty's father, Kenny, was a two-time All-Big Ten player for the Illini and led them to the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back years, including a Final Four appearance in 1989. Kenny was courtside for his daughter's first career collegiate start in Champaign on his old floor, wearing Sycamore Blue.
