Five Things to Know
- Homecoming for Hall
Indiana State Head Coach Vicki Hall will make her first return to her hometown of Indianapolis leading the Sycamores when ISU visits Butler Monday night. A former Indiana Miss Basketball and Naismith and Gatorade Player of the Year, she is a product of Brebeuf Jesuit Prep before heading to Austin, Texas where she was a three-time All-Southwest Conference player for the Longhorns.
- In-State Battle
The Sycamores have been road warriors this season with six of their eight games to date coming on the road. While Monday's battle will make seven of nine, for a change ISU won't have to travel far to hit the hardwood. This marks the first time this season Indiana State will face a Hoosier State team.
- Homewreckers
Indiana State looks to play the role of spoilers Monday night. Butler (7-1) will put an unblemished home record on the line when the Sycamores visit historic Hinkle Field House. Opposite of Indiana State's schedule to date, Butler has played six of their eight games at home this season and have posted a 6-0 mark in those games to date.
- Steals Aplenty?
When Indiana State and Butler tipoff Monday night, be ready to keep your head on a swivel like at a tennis match. That is because both teams are among the nation's leaders in steals. Butler ranks second in the nation in steals per game (15.0), third in scoring defense (50.6 ppg) and eighth in total steals (120), leading the BIG EAST in all three categories while Indiana State ranks 63rd nationally in steals per game (10.0), a mark that leads the Missouri Valley Conference.
- Theft by Three
Junior Ashli O'Neal is quickly becoming one of the nation's most potent threat at takeaways as she enters this week's game ranked 20th nationally in steals per game (3.25) and 32nd nationally in total steals (26). The Cincinnati, Ohio native leads the Missouri Valley Conference in both categories.
