Five Things to Know
- A New Destination and a Homecoming
While Indiana State has never traveled to the state of Arizona before in the program's history, this weekend's trip will be a homecoming for one Sycamore. Alexis Delgado is a Phoenix native that attended Tolleson Union High School before spending two years at Phoenix (Junior) College.
- In-Season Tournaments are Tough Too
Postseason tournaments aren't the only thing that are tough to win. Indiana State is looking to win its first in-season tournament/challenge since the 2014-15 season. Despite the program's success, especially in the first decade of the 2000s, the Sycamores have only claimed two in-season tournament titles since 2000. That came at the 2004-05 USF Shootout in Tampa, Florida and the 2014-15 St. John's Holiday Classic in New York.
- Don't Call It a Comeback
Despite a 2-0 record, the start of the 2018-19 hasn't been easy for the Sycamores. In both games so far, Indiana State has had to rally back from a halftime deficit to claim a win. ISU trailed by five at Marshall on Nov. 7 and trailed by 10 at Saint Louis on Nov. 13, also trailing by 10 entering the final quarter against the Billikens.
- Tierra Webb Among Nation's Best Early On
Granted we are only two games into the season but Tierra Webb is off to a hot start in assist-to-turnover ratio. She enters the week in Arizona ranked sixth nationally with a 7.00 ratio, recording seven assists and just one turnover so far this season.
- No Home November
Due to planned renovations to the Hulman Center, Indiana State will be road warriors for the month of November this season. The Sycamores will open the 2018-19 season with five straight games away from home (four true road games and one neutral contest) and will not play a home game in the Wabash Valley until hosting IUPUI on Dec. 3. This marks the first time since the 1982-83 season that the Sycamores will not have a home game in the month of November.
