Melina Tedrow recorded her first career double-double, but despite posting its most digs in nearly a month, Indiana State's defense fell in a close 3-1 battle to Missouri State Friday night at ISU Arena.

The Sycamores (7-11, 0-6 Missouri Valley) weathered four lead changes and 10 ties for an opening set victory – its first set win over the Bears since 2015 – but would drop the subsequent three sets. Williams led the Trees with 12 kills while
Melina Tedrow recorded 35 assists and 18 digs. Four Indiana State players would reach double-digits in digs in all as
Laura Gross (16),
Jade York (15) and
Nikkie White (11) all added to the defensive effort.

Missouri State (9-9, 2-3) was led by Aubrey Cheffey's 16 kills while Amelia Flynn led the Bears with 17 digs. The Bears, who have now won two straight Valley matches after starting league play 0-3, also posted four players with double-digit digs.

Indiana State remains home Saturday at 7 p.m. to host Southern Illinois while welcoming back the 2003 Sycamore team.
SET 1 – Indiana State 26, Missouri State 24
- Indiana State trailed by as much as five at 18-13 before rallying back.
- ISU out hit Missouri State in the set, .216 to .152, despite the Bears recording more kills and blocks.
- Rhiannon Morozoff led Indiana State with four kills.
- Nikkie White recorded six digs for ISU.
- The close set featured 10 ties and four lead changes.
SET 2 – Missouri State 25, Indiana State 22
- Cassie Kawa and Madeline Williams both led ISU with four kills.
- The Sycamores only hit .073 in the set compared to Missouri State's .220 mark.
- Missouri State's Cambree Villarreal led all players in the set with seven kills.
SET 3 – Missouri State 25, Indiana State 19
- The Sycamores jumped out to a 5-0 lead. Missouri State would take its first lead at the 10-9 mark.
- Madeline Williams led the Trees with four kills and a .444 hitting percentage in the set.
- Williams and Rhiannon Morozoff each registered two block assists in the frame.
- ISU out-blocked Missouri State in the set, 3 to 2.
SET 4 – Missouri State 25, Indiana State 20
- Missouri State led by as much as five at 18-13 before Indiana State rallied back within one at 18-17.
- A couple close calls late in the set went in Missouri State's favor, allowing the Bears to end the set on a 5-2 run.
- Indiana State out hit Missouri State in the set, .250 to .200. The Sycamores recorded more blocks as well, 2-0.

- The opening set victory for the Sycamores marks the first set win for ISU over Missouri State since 2015.
- The Bears now lead the all-time series over ISU, 64-1.
- Melina Tedrow recorded her first career double-double with 35 assists and 18 digs. She is the third different Sycamore to record a double-double this season.
