CHICAGO – Laura Gross led the Sycamores with 13 kills and 11 digs – registering her 34
th career double-double – but Indiana State dropped a 3-1 decision to Loyola Chicago in Missouri Valley Conference play Friday evening at Gentile Arena.
Madeline Williams may have only had eight kills for the Sycamores (8-14, 1-9) but her hitting percentage of .350 led all players in the Blue and White. The freshman has hit over .200 in her last five matches.
Loyola Chicago (12-9, 4-5) had four players reach double-digit kills as the Ramblers were led by Gabi Maciagowski's 15 kills. Alex Nunez led Loyola with 17 digs.
Cassie Kawa tied a career-high two solo blocks while also adding seven kills.
Damadj Johnson, in her first appearance on the court since Sept. 28, put down seven kills.
SET 1 – Loyola 25, Indiana State 17
- Rhiannon Morozoff and Madeline Williams led ISU with three kills.
- Cassie Kawa recorded a block solo in the set marking the second consecutive match she's been credited with a solo block.
- The two teams were even in digs, 16-16.
SET 2 – Loyola 25, Indiana State 16
- Four different Sycamores had two kills in the set.
- Quinn Spieker led Loyola with four kills.
- The Ramblers served up three aces in the frame.
SET 3 – Indiana State 25, Loyola 18
SET 4 – Loyola 25, Indiana State 14
- Damadj Johnson led the Sycamores with four kills in the set.
- Indiana State was out-blocked in the set, 4-1.
- Gabi Maciagowski led Loyola with six kills in the set.
NOTABLES
- Indiana State now trails the all-time series against Loyola, 12-8. This marks the first time since 2012-13 that the Ramblers have won consecutive matches over the Sycamores.
- Cassie Kawa tied a career-high two block solos matching the two solo blocks she had against Louisiana-Lafayette in 2016.
- Laura Gross registered her 34th career double-double with 13 kills and 11 assists.
