In its tenth year, the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic has become a highly-anticipated holiday tradition for college basketball fans. This year's field has three teams who advanced to the postseason last year. Joining host Hawai'i in the 2018 field are Bucknell, Charlotte, Colorado, Indiana State, Rhode Island, TCU and UNLV.
- Patriot League power Bucknell comes to Hawai'i fresh off an NCAA bid and its seventh league title in the last eight years.
- Charlotte looks to have an exciting season with the arrival of first-year coach Ron Sanchez, who helped build Virginia into a national juggernaut as its associate head coach.
- Colorado has built itself as one of the Pac-12's most consistent programs with appearances in the NCAA Tournament or the Postseason NIT in six of the past eight years.
- In the 10th-year anniversary of the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic, host Hawai'i aims for its first tournament title with a historically big recruiting class that includes a trio of 7-footers.
- Indiana State will make its second appearance in the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Classic, following an impressive third-place finish in 2012 that was powered by a pair of overtime upset wins of Ole Miss and Miami.
- Rhode Island should be one of this year's tournament favorites as the only program in the field to have advanced to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament in each of the last two seasons.
- Former Rainbow Warrior assistant Jaime Dixon returns to Hawai'i after leading TCU to a top-10 national ranking and its first NCAA Tournament bid in two decades in 2017-18.
- UNLV, a 20-win program last season, makes its first Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic appearance since advancing to the championship game of the inaugural 2009 season.
The first of 12 tournament games will tip off on Saturday, Dec. 22 and will culminate on Dec. 25 with the championship game. December 22 will be a full slate of ESPN events as the Hawai'i Bowl coincides with the first day of the tournament. Host Hawai'i will take on UNLV at noon in the first round of the tournament, instead of its customary opening-evening tipoff. The complete bracket can be found
