TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Mitch Hannahs has signed a three-year extension that will keep him as head baseball coach at Indiana State through at least 2020, Director of Athletics Sherard Clinkscales announced today.
 
Hannahs will have the opportunity to add two years to his contract per NCAA postseason appearance.

"I am very thankful to be the head coach at Indiana State University. This is a special place for me and my family," Hannahs said. "I am grateful to President Bradley and our AD Sherard Clinkscales who have the trust in me to lead this program moving forward."
 
Hannahs has led the Sycamores to 127 wins, an NCAA Tournament appearance and three top-3 finishes in the Missouri Valley Conference in four seasons at the helm of the program and is just the sixth coach in program history to record 100 or more wins.

"Coach Hannahs embraces the challenges that we face here at Indiana State as opportunities and works tirelessly to achieve the goals of the program," Clinkscales said. "The way he has kept his coaching staff together at Indiana State is a true testament to his leadership and willingness to sacrifice for the betterment of the program."
 
"He is an exceptional leader, a true tactician and he has continued to build upon the tradition of Sycamore baseball," Clinkscales continued. "His teams consistently compete at a high level on the field in a tough conference, excel in the classroom and are active in the community. I look forward to Coach Hannahs' leadership of the baseball program in the future."

Entering his 5th season at the helm of the program, Hannahs has coached 16 All-MVC selections, including four first team selections, seven All-MVC Scholar Athlete award winners and 10 players who were taken in the MLB Draft. In 2015, Jeff Degano was taken in the second round by the Yankees and Will Kincanon was taken in the 11th round in 2017 by the White Sox.
 
Hannahs and his wife, Amy, have three children: Derek, Kylee, and Kaleb.
