NORMAL, Ill. – Indiana State baseball came from behind to defeat Illinois State 4-3 Sunday afternoon on its way to a weekend sweep of the Redbirds at Duffy Bass Field. The win marked the second-straight weekend sweep for the Sycamores and the sixth-consecutive win of the season; a new season best.
Senior
Tony Rosselli knocked in the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth for the Sycamores (24-20, 10-5 MVC) with a single to left, scoring
Dane Tofteland who led off the inning with a base hit.
Ryan Keaffaber (3-4) pitched a strong four innings in relief, limiting Illinois State to just two hits and a run while striking out three on his way to the win. Right-hander
Austin Conway collected his 11
th save of the season after closing out the ninth.
Illinois State (12-34, 1-14 MVC) scored a run in the bottom of the first before adding one more in the fourth. Redbird starting pitcher Matt Walker held the Sycamores to just four hits in four and a third innings, before the ISU offense got things going in the fifth, notching three runs to overcome a 2-0 ILS lead.

Cody Gardner picked up a leadoff walk before
Ryan Toliver reached on a single to right.
Dane Tofteland pushed the first ISU run across the plate with a single off the wall in left before
Dane Giesler picked up a one-out walk.
With the bases loaded and two outs,
Kyle Moore sent a sharp liner at Redbird second baseman Joe Butler who misplayed the hop, allowing the ball to roll into the outfield. Both Tofteland and pinch-runner
Danny Camilo scored on the play to give ISU its first lead of the afternoon at 3-2.
The Redbirds answered back in the seventh inning to tie the ballgame on an RBI double from Owen Miller that snuck just inside the line out in right.
Junior
Jeremy McKinney tossed four innings on the mound for the Sycamores, striking out five Redbirds and allowing just two runs. The right-hander struggled early in the game and finished with five walks in the outing.
The Sycamores outhit the Redbirds, 8-5 on the afternoon. Tofteland led the squad with a pair of hits.
Indiana State will continue its road swing next weekend when they travel to Springfield, Mo. to take on nationally ranked Missouri State in a three-game series.
