DES MOINES, Iowa -- Indiana State volleyball fell to Drake in four sets (25-18, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19) Friday night inside the Knapp Center. ISU was led by
Laura Gross with 13 kills and
Damadj Johnson who finished with 11 kills.
After dropping the opening set to the Bulldogs 25-18, ISU turned up its offensive attack to stun the Drake (22-6, 11-3 MVC) who has held their opponents to a .167 attacking percentage on the season. ISU hit .217 in the set and rallied back to take the frame, 25-23. Indiana State (7-18, 5-8 MVC) ended Drake's 10-set winning streak with the set win.
After heading to the locker room tied at a set apiece, the Bulldogs came back to the court with a vengeance hitting their stride offensively with a .400 attacking percentage in the set as they cruised to a 25-17 win.
Indiana State fell behind early in the fourth frame before battling back. Drake led by as many as eight points before the Sycamores made a late push to pull within two at 19-17. Drake would answer the ISU rally with a 6-2 run of their own to take the set and match.
