PEORIA, Ill. – Indiana State volleyball hit .260 Saturday night, a big improvement from the .035 hitting on Friday night, en route to a three-set victory over Bradley, 25-22, 25-21, 33-31 inside Renaissance Coliseum.
Indiana State (10-20, 8-10 MVC) was able to withstand multiple rallies and hit .395 in the first set, which helped the Sycamores to a 25-22 set win.
Bradley (10-22, 3-15 MVC) went back and forth with ISU at the beginning of set two, but the Sycamores were able to pull away to a 19-14 lead. The Braves rallied to make it 20-19, but eventually fell, 25-21.
Neither team was able to pull away during set three. The Sycamores and Braves traded points for the entire set, but it was Indiana State who was able to hang on for a 33-31 win.
Laura Gross had 14 kills and 19 digs to lead the Sycamores while
Sarah Peterson had 12 kills.
Rachel Griffin finished with 51 assists for the Trees. ISU won the battle at the net, finishing with five blocks while Bradley had one.
Erica Haslag paced the Braves with 18 kills while Jamie Livaudais had 11.
The Sycamores can now focus on the Missouri Valley Conference Championship, which will begin on Thanksgiving Day in Normal, Ill. ISU will enter as the No. 5 seed and take on No. 4 Drake Thursday at 6 p.m. ET.
