Bulldogs Run Past Volleyball in Three Sets

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State volleyball dropped its Saturday night matchup with Drake, 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-18) inside the ISU Arena. Senior Sarah Peterson led the way for the Sycamores with a team high 13 kills on the night as ISU fell to 5-13 overall and 3-3 in Missouri Valley Conference play.

Both teams came out firing on defense as each side was held under .115 attacking to open the match. After trailing 12-8 in the set, Indiana State maintained its poise to eventually tie the set at 14 and again at 21 before the red-hot Bulldogs pulled away late for a 25-23 win. The Sycamores recorded 2.5 of their 3.5 total blocks in the opening set, led by sophomore Damadj Johnson.

The Bulldogs (17-3, 6-0 MVC) hit their stride in the second set, hitting .275 while holding ISU to just a .100 attacking percentage. An early 8-2 deficit was too much to overcome as ISU could not pull closer than three points in the remainder of the set as the Bulldogs cruised to a 25-18 set win.

It was much of the same in the final set as DU hit .325 led by Kyla Inderski and Cathryn Cheeck with four kills each. The Sycamores had their best offensive performance of the night in the frame but could not slow down the Bulldogs as Drake recorded its 10th-straight win and remained unbeaten in MVC action.
