BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Sycamores (10-5, 0-0 MVC) took advantage of out-hitting Campbell (7-9, 0-0 Big South) in a 4-1 win over the host of the invitational. Junior Justin Hill led Indiana State on the mound, while multiple hitters led the team on offense.
Indiana State out-hit Campbell 11 hits to the Camels' four. Leading the Sycamores was freshman Clay Dungan who went 3-for-3 at the plate, knocking in one run, and drawing one walk. Senior Kaden Moore finished 2-for-3 while junior Hunter Owen continued a five-game hitting streak, going 2-for-4 in the win. Hill threw five complete innings, striking out eight.
The Sycamores scored first in the top of the fourth inning after senior Andy Young doubled, Owen doubled to score him, and then Moore doubled to score Owen. The Camels answered with one run in the bottom of the fourth, but would not score again.
The fourth run of the game came in the top of the sixth inning as Moore doubled for the second time and Dungan singled to plate Moore.
The Sycamores would hold on for the next three innings to seal the sweep. Sophomore Jeremy McKinney recorded his second save of the season in the win.
