MIAMI – Former Sycamore Nevin Ashley made his long awaited Major League debut Wednesday evening with the Milwaukee Brewers as the Brewers took on the Miami Marlins in Miami.
In Ashley's first swing in the show, he hit an RBI double in the series finale with the Marlins. He finished the night 1-for-2 and was hit by a pitch in the eighth inning.
Ashley was a sixth-round pick with the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2006 draft. In 2009 he earned All-Prospect honors in the 2009 Arizona Fall League and traveled with the big league team with the Rays made the 2010 playoffs. Ashley moved around in the last couple of years, playing in the Reds, Pirates and Brewers Triple-A organizations. With Colorado Springs this season, Ashley hit for a .306 average with eight home runs and 61 RBI.
