Former Indiana safety Antonio Allen to join Sycamore football program

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Former Indiana safety Antonio Allen has officially transferred to Indiana State and will redshirt the 2015 season, ISU head coach Mike Sanford announced Wednesday morning.

Allen was the leading tackler for the Hoosiers in 2014 with 74 stops (54 solo), one sack, 3.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions and one pass breakup last season as an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection.

“We welcome Antonio Allen to the Sycamore football family,” Sanford said. “We look forward to seeing him have a successful future both academically and athletically here at Indiana State.”

Allen was a four-star recruit coming out of Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, ranked as both the No. 5 prospect in Indiana and the No. 19 safety in the entire nation in 2013. He was an immediate contributor his freshman season, being named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team in the process. He played in seven games and started one at Michigan before tearing his ACL that same game in Ann Arbor.
