St. Louis – Junior third baseman Andy Young has received Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week honors for the week of Mar. 30th-April 5th. Young is the first Sycamore to receive Player of the Week honors in 2015.
Young posted a slash line of .556/.619/1.111 (average/on-base percentage/slugging percentage) in five games during the week. Young had four multi-hit performances in five games and knocked in a team-high eight RBI during the week. Against Wichita State on Friday, Young went 2-for-4 with a triple and a double and knocked in two of the three Sycamore runs.
On Saturday, Young sparked an eight-run ninth inning in which the Sycamores started the inning trailing by four before taking the lead and defeating the Shockers. Young belted his second home run of the inning, a two-run shot to left to put the Sycamores up by four going into the ninth inning.
Sunday, Young finished 2-for-2 with his tenth double of the season.
