Andy Young Receives Missouri Valley Player of the Week Honors

St. Louis – Junior third baseman Andy Young has received Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week honors for the week of Mar. 30th-April 5th. Young is the first Sycamore to receive Player of the Week honors in 2015.

Young posted a slash line of .556/.619/1.111 (average/on-base percentage/slugging percentage) in five games during the week.  Young had four multi-hit performances in five games and knocked in a team-high eight RBI during the week.  Against Wichita State on Friday, Young went 2-for-4 with a triple and a double and knocked in two of the three Sycamore runs.

On Saturday, Young sparked an eight-run ninth inning in which the Sycamores started the inning trailing by four before taking the lead and defeating the Shockers.  In the top of the ninth, Young led off with a solo home run to centerfield.  The Sycamores batted around, giving Young another at-bat in the ninth which he took full advantage of.  Young belted his second home run of the inning, a two-run shot to left to put the Sycamores up by four going into the ninth inning.

Sunday, Young finished 2-for-2 with his tenth double of the season.

Young and the Sycamore baseball team return to action on Tuesday, Apr. 7th as they face the Purdue Boilermakers at Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium.  First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m. (ET).
