TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—Senior Megan Stone broke the all-time career home run record at Indiana State with a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth inning but the Sycamores fell in the series finale 9-8 to Missouri State on Sunday.

Missouri State jumped out to an early lead as they plated one run off two hits in the top of the first inning. The Bears then extended their lead in the top of the second when they scored two more runs off two hits to make it 3-0.

The Sycamores answered in the bottom of the third when sophomores Rylee Holland and Kassie Brown led off the inning with bunt singles. Sophomore Erika Crissman then tied the game with a three-run home run to center field, her first of the season.

Senior Aubre Carpenter then kept the inning going with a double to left field before senior Megan Stone was intentionally walked. Both runners then advanced one base on a sacrifice by sophomore Mary Turitto. Junior Alexa Cavin, then walked to load the bases and after a strikeout, junior Kelsey Montgomery hit a two RBI single to give the Sycamores a 5-3 lead.

The Bears responded and tied the game in the top of the fourth as they plated two runs off two hits to make it 5-5.

Again in the bottom of the fourth, the Sycamores retook the lead when Brown singled up the middle and stole second base. Two batters later, Stone singled to score Brown before Turitto doubled to shallow left field to score Stone and give the Sycamores a 7-5 lead.

In the top of the sixth, Missouri State plated two runs after a collision at the plate that forced the Bears second baseman to exit the game. Following a 20 minute delay, the Bears plated two more runs to give them a 9-7 lead over the Sycamores.

Stone cut into the deficit in the bottom of the sixth when she hit a two-out solo home run to become the all-time home run leader at Indiana State with 21. The Sycamores could get no closer, however, as they fell in the series finale to Missouri State 9-8.

Stone finished the game 3-3 with two RBI's and a walk while Crissman was 1-4 with three RBI's and Montgomery was 1-4 with two RBI's playing her first career game at third base.

The Sycamores will return to action on Tuesday when they travel to face the Bulldogs of Butler in Indianapolis, Ind.
