Box Score

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Three Sycamores scored in double figures but Indiana State ran out of gas as it fell to No. 3 seed Missouri State in the Missouri Valley Conference quarterfinals, 75-57, on Friday evening. Indiana State finishes the 2014-15 season with a 17-13 overall record under first year head coach Joey Wells.

Senior forward Jasmine Grier led with 12 points and redshirt sophomore Joyea Marshall picked up 11 with redshirt junior Cierra Ceazer adding 10. Senior forward Racheal Mahan posted a season-high 12 boards in the loss while picking up five points.

23 Sycamore turnovers led to 26 Missouri State points, as the No. 3 seed Bears advance to Saturday's semifinal. Indiana State was barely edged on the boards, 44-43, and picked up just seven steals and dished out 11 assists

.

Along with her 12 points, Grier added five rebounds and tied a team-high two assists to go along with two steals and a block. Senior forward Chelsea Small added five rebounds and two steals while junior guard Alexis Newbolt also added five points.

Senior guard Natasha Zurek also picked up a team-high four steals and added five points along with two steals in the final game her career at Indiana State.

Indiana State shot 37.7 percent from the floor on the evening, with a 46.7 percent mark in the first half.

Two ties and eight lead changes in the first half alone as Missouri State scored the first four points in the opening three minutes.  But Indiana State kicked its offense into gear with Grier knocking down a 3-pointer. It sparked a 14-2 run in the next five minutes and an eight point Sycamore lead.

After consecutive Marshall and Wittman buckets with 7:26 to play, MSU took a lead after Kenzie Williams went to the rim. Indiana State took the lead back after a Newbolt triple but the Bears stretched its lead out to the largest of the half, 31-26, with after a Lexis Hughes 3-pointer.

Ceazer's march to the basket helped Indiana State come within three, 35-32, at the break.

The Sycamores kept it within reach in the early going of the second half, but a Missouri State 7-0 run in a 42 second span with just six minutes shaved off the second half clock called for an Indiana State timeout.

ISU was able to get into the bonus with 11:16 to play in the game and managed to go to the line 14 times in the second half but made just seven of those shots.

A Zurek jumper at the elbow and back-to-back buckets from Ceazer helped ISU come within two but things fell apart quickly in the final minutes. Missouri State would outscore the Sycamores 20-7 over the final five minutes of play.
