TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indiana State head football coach Mike Sanford announced this evening (Dec. 17) that three student-athletes have signed a national letter of intent and will join in the Sycamores in time for the spring semester and will be eligible to play in 2015.

Junior quarterback Zack Kline (Butte College), sophomore wide receiver Chris Overton (Kent State) and junior running back Roland Genesy (Glendale Community College) are now officially members of the Sycamore football program.

Zach Kline is a transfer from Butte College, the home of former Sycamore wide receiver Justin Hilton. Kline led the team to a 7-4 overall record, and a 4-1 mark in conference play. They fell to #2 American River by the score of 20-17 in the first round of the playoffs.

Kline is a 6-2, 200 signal caller who originally signed with California and played for the Bears as a freshman. He is originally from Danville, Calif., where he played high school football at San Ramon Valley HS. Kline redshirted in 2012 at Cal before playing six games for the Bears in 2013. As a freshman he was tabbed as the nation's No. 4 incoming quarterback prior to the season by Athlon, Lindy's and Phil Steele. Athlon had him as the No. 9 recruit in the Pac 12 and Lindy's placed him at No. 13. At San Ramon Valley High School , he earned Super Prep All-American honors during a 2011 senior season in which he completed 230-of-341 passes for 3,630 yards and a school-record-tying 36 TDs with only seven interceptions to rank fourth in California and No. 18 nationally in passing, while adding 210 yards and eight scores on the ground. Kline had a school-record completion percentage of 67.4% as a senior while his yardage total was second all-time at the school and threw for at least one touchdown in 13 of 14 games and passed for at least 200 yards on 12 occasions as a senior, including a career-high 337 yards vs. California in a game in which he also equaled a career best with five touchdown passes to earn MaxPreps Player of the Week honors. He played in the Under Armour All-America Game following his senior season and completed 5-of-10 passes for 92 yards, including a 32-yard TD pass that rated No. 3 on ESPN's Top 10 Plays of the Day.

Chris Overton is a sophomore wide receiver from Kent State. He is 5-9, 170 and redshirted during the 2013 campaign. He is from Richmond Heights, Ohio and Glenville HS. He was selected to play in the Ohio North-South All-Star game and earned all-conference honors. Overton made 40 receptions as a senior, with six touchdowns and 501 receiving yards. He also ran for 247 yards and four touchdowns on 31 carries and had a pair of passing touchdowns. Overton returned a kickoff and a punt for touchdowns. He helped Glenville to four conference titles and one Division I State Championship Game appearance. Overton was also a state meet qualifier in the both indoor and outdoor track and field.
