TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Senior Devin Moore tossed seven strong innings on the mound and senior Robby Ort hit his first home run of the season, leading the Indiana State baseball team to a 6-1 Missouri Valley Conference victory over the No. 30 Creighton Bluejays on Friday night from Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium.

The victory is the third in a row for the Sycamores, pushing their record to 15-13 overall and an even 5-5 in the conference. The Bluejays, ranked No. 30 nationally by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, drop to 18-7 on the season, 5-2 within the league.

Indiana State scored in the first inning for the third consecutive game, taking a 1-0 lead on a two-out single by redshirt sophomore Jacob Hayes. Junior Cody Zimmerman drew a one-out walk before moving into scoring position when Ort walked with two outs. Hayes pulled a two-strike pitch through the right side of the infield to give the Sycamores the lead.

Creighton responded to ISU's run by loading the bases with no outs in the top half of the third inning, but Moore induced a run-scoring double play to junior Tyler Wampler at shortstop before Mike Gerber lined out to senior Jordan Pearson at second base to end the inning.

Sophomore Landon Curry led off the bottom half of the third inning by working his way to third base, as the ISU centerfielder single to center, stole second and moved to third on a throwing error by the CU catcher. Redshirt senior Koby Kraemer put runners on the corners with a one-out walk, bringing Ort to the plate. The ISU senior pulled a 1-1 down the right field line for his first home of the season and a 4-1 Indiana State lead. Ort also moved into sole possession of fourth place on ISU's career RBIs list, pushing his career total to 178 and breaking a tie for fourth with John LaMar (1989-92).

Indiana State tacked on two insurance runs in the seventh inning, as Hayes and Pearson each tallied RBIs following a leadoff double by redshirt sophomore Derek Hannahs.

Moore (3-3) worked seven innings, allowing four hits and one unearned run while striking out six batters. Junior Josh Dove pitched the final two innings of the game, striking out one batter.

Ort led the team at the plate with a 3-for-4 effort, falling a double short of the cycle with a three-run home run, triple and single. Hayes also drove in two runs on Friday.

Indiana State posted their fourth consecutive game with 10 hits, as the Sycamores are hitting .315 (45-for-143) as a team over their last four games.

Former Terre Haute Rex pitcher and freshman Tommy Strunc (4-1) started the game for the Bluejays, allowing four runs on four hits in five innings with five walks. Creighton lost for the first time in eight games this season when Strunc started on the mound.

The Sycamores and Bluejays continue their series on Saturday with first pitch set for 2:00 p.m. ISU will send junior left-hander Sean Manaea (4-2, 0.99 ERA) to the mound against Creighton's senior righty Nick Musec (0-3, 5.91 ERA).
