AUBURN, Ala. - Middle Tennessee State scored eight unanswered runs on Saturday, tallying all eight of their runs in their final three innings at the plate to earn an 8-1 victory over Indiana State at Plainsman Park on the campus of Auburn University.

Middle Tennessee (4-2) looked poised to take a lead in the third inning after loading the bases with no outs, but junior starting pitcher Daniel Peterson started a 1-2-3 double play and forced a flyout to escape the jam.

Indiana State (3-3) took the lead in the sixth inning, as senior Robby Ort and junior Mike Fitzgerald led off the inning with back-to-back hits, with Ort moving to third on a single. With two outs in the inning, Ort came across the plate on a passed ball to put ISU in front, 1-0.

MTSU took the lead with four runs in the bottom half of the sixth, including a go-ahead three-run home run by Jake Ellison on a full-count. The Blue Raiders would continue to tack on runs to their lead, scoring three times in the seventh and once in the eighth.

Peterson (0-1) took the loss on Saturday, allowing three runs over 5.1 innings with three strikeouts. Ort went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and run scored while Fitzgerald went 2-for-3. MTSU's Johnathan Frebis (1-0) earned the win allowing five hits in six innings. Daniel Palo picked up a three-inning save, allowing just two hits with five strikeouts.

Indiana State closes out their weekend slate with a matchup against tournament-host Auburn on Sunday. First pitch between ISU and AU is set for 3:00 p.m. (ET), 2:00 p.m. locally in Alabama and can be heard live on GoSycamores.com.
