TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—Indiana State softball junior Morgan Allee has been named the winner of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Golden Shoe Award for the 2011-12 season for her efforts while at Iowa Centeral College.

"Congratulations to Morgan," Indiana State head coach Shane Bouman said. "Her aggressive style of softball is just what we are looking for at Indiana State."

The award is given out each year to the nation's top base-stealer in each division. All recorded an Iowa Central College record with 73 stolen bases last season and earned First Team NFCA All-American honors.

"You get individual honors by having great coaches and teammates," Allee said. " I came to Indiana State to win."

Allee, a native of Cedar Rapids, joins the Sycamores after two successful years at Iowa Central where she set single-season school records in batting average (.540), hits (114), runs (89), triples (9) and stolen bases (73).

The Sycamores continue the fall portion of their schedule on Sept. 29-30 when they play games against Heartland Community College, Olney Community College and Indiana University all at Price Field.
