TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Indiana State University and Indiana Blood Center are teaming up to help boost blood supply to meet the needs of hospitals all around the state. Hosted by Indiana State University, the ISU Football Drive will give participants the opportunity to meet the players, take a tour inside the field house, and save a life in the process.

The blood drive will be held at Memorial Stadium, located at 3300 Wabash Ave., from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. (ET) on June 19.

"This is a great opportunity for our players to give back to the fans and members of the Wabash Valley community," said John Sherman, assistant athletic director at Indiana State University.

Not only will the ISU football team be hosting the drive, but they will be participating as well. Fans will have the opportunity to donate alongside football players as they raise their sleeves to ensure stable blood supplies throughout the summer season.

Indiana Blood Center works with local hospitals to provide blood supplies for patients in need of any number of treatments, such as those fighting cancer, having surgery or experiencing a medical emergency. During the last year, Indiana Blood Center provided nearly 8,000 blood components to Union Hospital and Terre Haute Regional Hospital combined.

"Schools typically provide 30 percent of the blood needed by Indiana Blood Center for area hospitals, which means the summer months are a challenging time for blood donations," said Shelly Shearer, Indiana Blood Center field representative. "We're thankful the ISU football team is stepping up to donate and getting the community involved. It's a fun way to save a life."
