TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The visiting Nebraska Omaha Mavericks pounded out 22 hits and scored three runs in the top of the 12th inning, taking the series finale over Indiana State by a score of 7-4 on Sunday at Bob Warn Field.

The Mavericks (12-32) took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, stringing together four singles in the inning. Brady Hohl drove in the run with a one-out single to center.

The Sycamores (34-11) were held scoreless until the eighth inning, when redshirt junior Koby Kraemer and sophomore Owen Conway led off the frame with a walk and a hit by pitch, respectively. After a sacrifice bunt by junior Jordan Pearson, pinch-hitter Rob Ort dropped a double into the right-center field gap to put ISU in front by one run. ISU would load the bases in the inning, but a double play got UNO out of the jam.

Nebraska Omaha started the top of the ninth with a single, but sophomore Tyler Wampler and Pearson rolled a double play to clear the bases and put two outs on the scoreboard. Senior Reggie Hochstedler got a strikeout swinging of the next batter, but the ball got away from junior Jeremy Lucas and allowed Caleb Palensky to reach on a passed ball. Mark Waldron came up next and hit a pitch high into the sky above the infield, but Wampler never saw the baseball and it dropped on the infield and allowed Palensky to score and tie the game. UNO took a 4-2 lead in the ninth when Alex Mortensen came up next and hit his fourth home run of the season to left field.

Indiana State rallied in the bottom of the ninth, beginning the inning with back-to-back walks by seniors Ryan Walterhouse and Kyle Burnam. Two batters later, Conway smashed a pitch off the left field wall for a two-run double to tie the game at 4-4. Conway moved to third base on a balk with one out, but UNO relievers Derek Landis and Sam Raetz got back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning.

The game remained tied at 4-4 until the 12
th inning, when UNO put together three runs on four hits. Dylan McGill, Hohl and Colby McCord all picked up RBIs in the inning.

Ort and Wampler drew consecutive one-out walks in the bottom half of the 12
th inning, but McCord struck out Lucas and senior Jon Hedges to end the game.

The 22 hits for Nebraska Omaha are the most that the Sycamores have allowed since March 15, 2009, when the College of Charleston totaled 25 in a 26-20 ISU victory. Hohl led the charge for UNO with a 5-for-7 afternoon at the plate, while eight Maverick starters tallied multiple hits for the game.

Conway and Pearson both tallied two hits for ISU while Conway and Ort drove in two runs each with doubles.

Junior Ryan Torgerson started the game for ISU, scattering 11 hits in six innings while allowing one run with seven strikeouts. Seven relievers came out of the bullpen for Indiana State.

The Sycamores have the midweek off from action as Indiana State University holds their finals week. ISU returns to action this weekend against Wichita State, with first pitch on Friday night set for 6:30 p.m. from Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium.
