TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Indiana State men's basketball team will play in the
postseason for the third straight season after accepting a bid to the 2012
CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT).
The Sycamores will host their opening game of the CIT on March 13
inside Hulman Center against an opponent that will be determined Sunday night.
"We are looking forward to playing in the postseason for the
third consecutive season," ISU head coach Greg Lansing said. "The CIT
will put together a competitive field, and we are happy to have the Sycamore
basketball program participating in the event. It's going to be exciting to play at home
and we appreciate the opportunity to play in front of our fans inside Hulman
Center."
Tickets to the Sycamores' home game March 13 will be $16 for
courtside seating, $11 for tickets in the lower bowl and $9 in the upper level.
ISU students with valid I.D.'s will get into the contest for only $2.
Indiana State season ticket holders will have the opportunity to
buy the seats that they held during the 2011-12 regular season on Thursday and
Friday (March 8 & 9). Tickets will go on sale to general public and Indiana
State University students on Monday and Tuesday (March 12-13).
Season ticket holders may purchase their tickets by calling 812-237-3770 or in person at the Hulman Center Ticket Office.
The general public will be able to purchase tickets online via the
Hulman Center's page on Ticketmaster.com as well as in person at the Hulman
Center Ticket Office during normal business hours or by phone by calling 1-800-745-3000.
Student tickets must be purchased in person at the Hulman Center.
The CIT is a 24-team tournament that will feature 12 first-round
games. Four of the teams that win first-round games will advance to the quarterfinals,
while the other eight teams will play for the right to advance to the
quarterfinals.
Missouri State won the 2010 CIT event with a 78-65 triumph over
Pacific in the title game. In 2009, Old Dominion captured the CIT crown with a
66-62 victory at Bradley.
Three Missouri Valley Conference teams took part in the 2009 CIT
including Bradley, Drake and Evansville. In 2010, Missouri State and Creighton
represented the MVC in the CIT field. Last season, Northern Iowa represented
the league in 2011.
Indiana State will
making its third consecutive appearance in the postseason following a berth to
CBI in 2010 as well as the NCAA Tournament in 2011. The last time the Sycamores
reached postseason play for three consecutive seasons came in 1977-79 when
Indiana State played in the 1977 & 1978 NIT as well as the 1979 NCAA Tournament.
The last time Indiana State hosted a postseason game came on March
10, 1978 when the Sycamores hosted Illinois State in the first round of the
NIT.
