TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indiana State used an NCAA record setting shooting performance from 3-point range -- as well as its best overall shooting percentage since 1992 -- plus a career-high tying 18 points from senior Jordan Printy to down Southern Illinois 78-68 in front of 6,040 fans inside Hulman Center.

ISU improved to 15-11, 6-9 MVC while Southern Illinois dropped to 8-18, 5-10 MVC.

The Sycamores hit all 12 of their 3-point attempts in the game, including six from Printy. The 12 made field goals in a row during one game broke the previous NCAA record of 11 set by Niagara and Eastern Kentucky in 1987. Additionally, the Sycamores 12-of-12 3-point shooting performance is a new NCAA record for 3-point shooting percentange by a team making at least 10 attempts from long range. The 12-of-12 mark tops Ohio State's 14-of-15 performance (93.3 percent) on March 6, 2011 against Wisconsin.

The last time an MVC team recorded at least a 75 percent from 3-point range came in December of 2010 when Evansville went 8-of-10 against Middle Tennessee State.

ISU was sparking no matter where they shot the ball though, as they hit 25-of-39 shots from the field (64.1 percent). That mark was the highest by an Indiana State team since Feb. 1, 1992 when they posted a 65 percent mark from the field against Drake.

Printy and Lathan tied for leading scorer honors with 18 each. Printy went a perfect 6-of-6 from 3-point range to tie his career-bests for treys in a game with six as well as points. Printy's perfect 6-of-6 mark from 3-point range is the best in the Missouri Valley Conference this season, topping Northern Iowa's Marc Sonnen who had hit 5-of-5 versus Creighton on January 10.

Lathan tallied 18 points by hitting all 10 of his free throws attempts in the game and was 2-of-2 from 3-point range himself.

Lathan's 3-pointer with 3:40 left in the game off the assist from Lucas Eitel gave the Sycamores the record setting 12th consecutive 3-pointer and pushed ISU ahead 69-54. No other Sycamore would attempt another 3-point shot the rest of the way as ISU finished with the record setting performance.

With 14:44 left in the game, RJ Mahurin came the closest to ending the Sycamores' perfect mark from 3-point range as he narrowly missed what was a long two-point field goal attempt as his foot was on the line and official Terry Davis signaled it as such during the course of the game.

Carl Richard finished the game with 14 points, hitting 6-of-7 shots from the field, including a perfect 2-of-2 from 3-point range as he is now just four points away from becoming the 34th member of the Sycamores' 1,000-point club.

Jake Odum reached double figures scoring for the third consecutive game as she scored 10 points to go with six rebounds, seven assists and three steals in 27 minutes of action.

Lucas Eitel paced the team in bench scoring with seven points, including a perfect 2-of-2 mark from 3-point range.

Indiana State fell behind 2-0 on the first possession of the game on a lay-up by Dantiel Daniels of SIU but Printy was on early and often as he hit his first triple with 19:26 remaining in the first half for a quick 3-0 advantage. He would go on to hit another with 17:14 remaining for an 8-4 lead, but SIU battled back to tie at 8.

Daniels hit a lay-up with 8:12 remaining for a 24-20 cushion, but Printy answered with a 3-pointer to cut the SIU advantage down to 24-23 with 7:46 left before half and then Eitel hit a trey just 38 seconds later to push ISU ahead 26-24. With 5:04 on the clock, Richard hit a jumper in the paint for a 28-24 lead to cap an 8-0 run.

Eitel answered an SIU trey with 3:19 to go to give the Sycamores a 31-27 advantage, but Kendal Brown-Surles hit one of his own just 17 seconds later to inch the Salukis closer at 31-30. Richard closed out the half with another 3-pointer --- this one with 1:30 to go to give ISU a 34-30 lead, but Daniels scored with five seconds remaining as ISU went into the half with a 34-32 advantage.

The Sycamores hit all eight of their first half attempts from 3-point range and Richard led with 10 points.

Daniels scored first in the second half with a free throw just 40 seconds in to leave the Sycamores with a 34-33 lead, but Richard hit a jumper 20 seconds later for a 36-33 advantage.

After Daniels hit a bucket with 18:39 remaining to make it 36-35, ISU rattled off seven in a row on a trey by Printy, a free throw by Odum and another triple from Printy with 16:09 remaining for a 43-35 Sycamore lead.

Southern Illinois then scored 12 of the game's next 16 points as Brown-Surles connected on a long jumper to put the Salukis withing a point at 48-47. Justin Gant got into the scoring action with 11:30 to go to stretch the lead back out to 50-47 and Daniels hit 1-of-2 free throws to make it 50-48 with 10:42 to go.

That is where ISU took control of the game, as Gant converted a conventional 3-point play at the 9:50 mark and then Odum posted a lay-up, following by another Printy 3-pointer with 8:36 to go as the Sycamores owned a 58-48 advantage following the 8-0 spurt. The run continued with a pair of Lathan free throws at the 6:13 mark to complete a 10-0 run as ISU sat with a 60-48 lead.

Mamadou Seck scored a bucket with 5:54 remaining which broke a 4:48 scoreless streak for the Salukis to cut the Sycamore lead down to 10. Lathan hit the Sycamores' final trey with 3:40 to for the 69-54 advantage and the Salukis did get the lead down to just seven points twice in the final minute but the Sycamores' hit seven of their final eight free throws for a 78-68 victory.

Four Salukis reached double figures scoring as Dantiel Daniels led the way with 16 points.

ISU returns to action on Tuesday, February 14 with a home game against Illinois State. Tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m. (ET) and can be seen live on Comcast Chicago Plus as well as ESPN3.com.
