Sycamore Football Adds Four Players To 2012 Roster

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indiana State football head coach Trent Miles and his staff have announced the addition of four players to the roster as mid-year transfers or incoming freshmen and will be with the squad for spring practice in 2012.

Joining the team will be sophomore quarterback J.D. Pride (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Minnesota), junior quarterback Blake Loncar (Alta Loma, Calif./Citrus College), sophomore quarterback Mike Perish (Frankfort, Ill./Western Michigan), and freshman defensive end Ahmad Smith (McDonough, Ga./Union Grove HS).

Pride is a 6-1, 205 sophomore quarterback who redshirted in 2010 at Minnesota and played last season under Jerry Kill as a freshman. He is a 2010 graduate of Totino-Grace High School where he led his team to a perfect 13-0 record and the Minnesota Class 4A State Championship in 2009. He complete 73-of-129 passes as a senior (56.6 percent) while throwing for 1,055 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior. He added 76 rushing yards and two touchdowns as a senior for coach Jeff Ferguson.

Loncar is a 6-5, 225 junior quarterback who is transferring into the program from Citrus College. In 2011, Loncar was 198-of-331 passing (59.8 percent) for 2,241 yards and 21 touchdowns in eight games played. As a sophomore in 2011 he paced the team in both passing yards and total offense. He leaves Citrus College with school records for attempts, completions, yards and touchdowns in a game as well as the season and career marks for touchdowns. He was a First Team Southern California Football Association All-West Conference selection in 2011 as well as a second team pick in 2010. Loncar started all 10 games for Citrus College in 2010 where he completed 127-of-250 passes for 1,550 yards and 15 touchdowns. He played three seasons at Los Osos High School in Alta Loma, Calif., where played for coach Tom Martinez. He was named to the All-Baseline League Second Team as a senior in 2009.

Perish is a 6-3, 205 quarterback who will be a sophomore in 2012 as he has transferred into the program from Western Michigan. Perish played in three games at WMU as a redshirt freshman in 2011 and was 4-of-10 for 42 yards, including a long completion of 21 yards. He made his debut against Nicholls on September 10 and completed four passes for 42 yards and scored his first career touchdown against Akron on November 25. At Marist High School, he was rated a three start recruit by Rivals.com and was ranked at the 93rd-best quarterback prospect nationally by Scout.com. He was named all-area as a junior and senior by the Chicago Sun Times and the Chicago Southtown Star. Additionally, Perish was First Team All-State selection in 2009 by the Chicago Tribune as well as Rivals.com. His Marist HS team finished as the state runner-up in 2009. Perish was an All-East Suburban Catholic Conference First Team selection in both 2008 and 2009 and was named the league's Most Valuable Offensive Player in 2009. He was selected to participate in the Illinois Coaches Association East/West All-Star Game following his senior season in which he was 248-of-345 passing (71.8 percent) with 3,385 yards and 37 touchdowns. For his career he passes for 5,398 yards with 57 touchdowns.

Smith, will be a 6-2, 225 incoming freshman defensive end who graduated in May of 2011 from Union Grove High School. As a senior in 2010, Smith was named to the Honorable Mention list of the 3-AAAA All-Region Team.
