ST. LOUIS - Indiana State sophomore kick returner Leonard Riston has been named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Special Teams Player Of The Week as announced today (Sept. 11) by the league office.

Riston returned three kickoffs for a total of 156 yards, including a 92-yard touchdown in the second quarter as the Sycamores downed Butler at Memorial Stadium. Riston's 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown was the Sycamores' first since the 2005 campaign when Cornell Johnson had a 97-yarder against Western Illinois.

His kickoff return against the Bulldogs came in the second quarter and helped the Sycamores to a 48-34 victory.

Riston was joined in the weekly MVFC honors by Offensive Player of the Week, Tirrell Rennie of UNI, Defensive Player of the Week Jordan Smith of UNI, and Newcomer of the Week David Johnson, also of UNI.

Indiana State returns to action on Saturday, September 17 when they travel to NCAA FBS member Western Kentucky in a game that will be televised nationally by ESPN3.com. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. (ET).
