TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Indiana State sophomore guard Logan Eitel has left the Sycamore basketball program to pursue other campus opportunities in a move announced today by second year head coach Greg Lansing.

"Logan made an unbelievably mature and difficult decision," coach Lansing announced. "He is involved in so many important things outside of basketball that the time commitment it takes to be a part of a team made it tough. Logan is, and always will be a part of our Basketball Family. His contributions to our success last year were as important as any player on the team. Although it didn't come in playing time during games, his daily work ethic and team attitude were vital to us. I told Logan he can come back next week, or in January if he wants. The door will always be open. We know that his academic pursuits and the valuable work he does with campus ministries will continue to affect the student body as well as our team in a very positive way. Sycamore Basketball, our staff and players can't thank Logan enough and know he will be a huge success in all he does."

Eitel, who's twin brother Lucas is still a member of the program, spent the 2009-10 season as a redshirt and then saw action last season as a redshirt freshman. He played in 10 games for the Sycamores, scoring five points and pulling down four rebounds. Eitel was 2-of-5 from the field and 1-of-1 at the free throw line. He added two assists in 30 minutes of action last season. Eitel has spent each of the last two summers working with the Orlando Projects, a program which helps students in the area grow in their relationship with Florida churches.

"I have the utmost respect for the Sycamores coaches and players," Eitel commented. "My situation is unique and its one in which I am simply moving on better things. This is a positive decision in that I am pursuing what is best for me. There are more great things in life than just basketball. I have no regrets over the last two years and I have enjoyed every minute. My life is dedicated to Jesus and I have commitments to him as well as people on campus and to the community that are taking much of my time in addition to going to school. My goal in life is to glorify God. This is a costly decision, but it is also is the right one. There comes a point where you know that basketball is important, but I have other goals that I want accomplish. This decision gives me more time to devote to attaining those goals. I will always be a part of the Sycamore basketball family. I love the team and coaches greatly. I know that ISU basketball has great things are in store this season and beyond. I also want to add that I am extremely thankful for having supportive parents, family and friends."

Indiana State begins the 2011-12 season on Saturday, November 5 when they host Truman State in the lone exhibition contest on the schedule. Tip-off is slated for Noon (ET) inside Hulman Center.
