(Nov. 29). The MVFC All-Newcomer Squad is voted upon by league head coaches,
sports information directors and a media panel.
Hileman, a junior punter, earned second team all-conference honors earlier in
the week after leading the league in punting in his first season with the
football team, averaging 42.2 yards per punt. Hileman made 38 punts this
season, with nine kicks going over 50 yards with seven being downed inside the
20. He led ISU to a net punting average of 38.2 yards as a team, checking in
first in the conference and sixth nationally. The ISU junior put together his
best game of the season against Southern Illinois on Nov. 19, averaging 53.2
yards on five punts (266 total yards) with three kicks over 50 yards.
Spencer, a sophomore wide receiver, transferred to Indiana State after spending
the 2010 season at Michigan State University. The newcomer led ISU with six
receiving touchdowns this season, totaling 459 yards on 31 catches. Spencer
heated up as the season wore on, catching a touchdown pass in three straight
games to close out the season, and in four of ISU's last five contests. The
Ypsilanti, Mich., product racked up 168 receiving yards in the season finale
against Southern Illinois on Nov. 19, coming on five catches with a pair of
