ISU's Shea Doran Is Named To MVC Volleyball All-Tournament Team

ST. LOUIS - Indiana State junior middle blocker Shea Doran (Martinsville, Ind.) was named to the 2011 Missouri Valley Conference All-Tournament team it was announced by the league office.

 

"I thought Shea did a great job against Wichita State in the quarterfinals," Traci Dahl, Indiana State volleyball coach said. "She has been steadily improving all year and it showed in the match. I am looking forward to her leadership and aggressive play next season."

 

Doran was a key player for the Sycamores as they reached the Valley tournament for the first time in seven years. She had six kills in 17 attempts with just one error for a .294 hitting percentage in ISU's quarterfinal loss to Wichita State Thursday while picking up one block and scoring 6.5 points.

 

She finished the 2011 season with 128 kills (1.86 per set) and a .247 hitting percentage with 25 assists, 29 digs, 45 blocks, and 159 points. Doran currently ranks 10th in career attack percentage (.230).

 

Northern Iowa, who defeated Wichita State for the 2011 MVC Tournament Championship, had three players named to the All-Tournament team including Tournament MVP Bre Payton along with Amy Braun and Krista DeGeest. Emily Adney and Mary Elizabeth Hooper of Wichita State were also named to the team along with Karisa Almgren of Creighton, Kelley Michnowicz of Missouri State, and Kristin Stauter of Illinois State.

 

Doran is the sixth Indiana State player to be named to the All-Tournament team. Kelly Spisak was named twice (2001 and 2004) while four others were named once including Brittany Stowell (2003), Megan Lynch (2000), Andrea Dillman (1999), and Jennifer Dallao (1997).
