TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Senior Deja Mattox tied her career highs in both points and rebounds on Tuesday night in Terre Haute, leading the Indiana State women's basketball team past in-state foe IUPUI, 65-40, in front of 3,156 inside Hulman Center.

The win evens ISU's record to 2-2 on the season, while IUPUI drops to 1-2.

Indiana State never trailed on Tuesday, posting a 10-0 run in the game's opening four minutes of action. Mattox began the scoring with a layup on ISU's first possession, followed by a layup from freshman Natasha Zurek, a 3-pointer from senior Brittany Schoen and a triple from Mattox to put ISU in front 10-0 at the 16:16 mark.

ISU posted its largest lead of the opening 20 minutes on a free-throw by Mattox with 19 seconds left before the break, giving the Sycamores a 37-15 lead.

Mattox scored 14 points in the first half, while Zurek added seven points and five rebounds.

IUPUI worked the deficit back to 15 points in the second half, using a 9-2 run over the first five and a half minutes to cut the ISU lead to 39-24 with 14:27 to play. The Sycamores responded with a quick 5-0 run to push the lead back to 20, however, as freshman Jessica Valley nailed a trey and senior Shannon Thomas hit an outside jumper on ISU's next two possessions.

The Sycamores cruised to victory in the second half, as nine of the 10 players to take the court for Indiana State put points on the scoreboard in the 65-40 victory.

Mattox ended the night with 22 points and nine rebounds, tying career highs in both categories. Mattox also scored 22 against USC Upstate and Illinois State last season, while pulling down nine boards against UNI on New Year's Eve one year ago. Schoen joined Mattox in double-figures, totaling 10 points including a pair of triples.

Thomas and Zurek turned in all-around nights for ISU, as Thomas went for six points, eight rebounds and four assists while Zurek added seven points, seven rebounds and three assists. Redshirt sophomore Andrea Rademacher made her first collegiate start, playing 27 minutes with eight points and five rebounds. Valley came off the bench to dish out a game-high seven assists while scoring five points despite picking up four first-half fouls.
