TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Indiana State women's basketball team kept the thrills going for one more night inside Hulman Center on Thursday, topping the visiting Drake Bulldogs, 77-74, in overtime in front of 2,489 fans. The Sycamores placed four scorers in double-figures, led by a career-high 20 points off the bench from freshman Anna Munn.

Indiana State (9-8, 3-3 MVC) got off to a rough start of Thursday, missing their first four shots of the game while turning the ball over during two of their first three possessions. Drake (9-8, 3-3 MVC) was able to capitalize, starting the game on a 10-3 run, capped by a 3-pointer from Kristin Turk, the Missouri Valley Conference's leading scorer, at the 14:53 mark of the first half.

The Sycamores responded right away with a layup from junior Shannon Thomas just 12 seconds later, a basket that would start a 12-2 ISU run to give Indiana State a 15-12 lead on a triple from sophomore Taylor Whitley with 11:01 remaining in the half. After a jumper from DU's Kayla Person, Munn gave ISU their largest lead of the first half and of the game, at 18-14, by knocking down a trey to give the Sycamores a four-point lead with 9:33 left until half.

ISU and DU traded leads five times in the opening 20 minutes of play, with the score settling at 30-29 Indiana State at the break. Munn went 4-for-7 from the field in the first 20 minutes, including 3-for-4 from beyond the three-point arc and a perfect 1-for-1 at the line. Junior Deja Mattox also scored eight points for the Sycamores in the first half, while Drake was paced by Turk's 12.

The back-and-forth contest featured three more lead changes and saw the score be tied four times in first six and a half minutes of the second half, resting at 43-43 with 13:18 remaining in regulation on a layup by Whitley. After Whitley's basket, the Bulldogs used a 9-0 run over the next two minutes of action to grab their largest lead of the night, at 52-43 on a jumper from Amber Wollschlager.

The Sycamores answered right back with a 9-0 run of their own, on a pair of 3-pointers from Munn sandwiched around an old-fashioned three-point play from Thomas. Drake would score the game's next two baskets and lead for much of the remainder of regulation, but Thomas would tie the score at 66-66 on the final basket of regulation on a layup with 55 seconds remaining.

ISU took the first lead of the overtime period on a jumper from Whitley, but a personal 5-0 run for Turk would give Drake a 71-68 lead with 3:34 remaining. Thomas went to the free-throw line on ISU's next two possession, knocking down three of her four shots to tie the score at 71-71 with 2:13 left.

Turk knocked down another shot to put Drake back up two, but Mattox hit a three on a pass from Thomas to give ISU the lead for good, at 74-73 with 1:28 remaining.

From there, Drake went 0-for-2 from the field and turned the ball over two times as the Sycamores secured the win with three more free-throws to pick up the 77-74 overtime win. ISU is now 8-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play inside Hulman Center this season.

For the game, Munn led ISU's four scorers in double-figures with 20 points, knocking down five 3-pointers and all three of her free-throws. Mattox finished just one point behind, with 19, while Thomas and Whitley both added 17 more. Thomas also grabbed 11 rebounds, her second straight double-double, fifth this season and third in her last four games. Whitley, the MVC's leader in minutes played, logged all 45 minutes on the court on Thursday night, racking up seven assists, five rebounds and five steals to go along with her 17 points.

Turk led the Bulldogs on Thursday, dropping 32 points on 10-for-21 shooting, including 5-of-10 from downtown. The Drake guard is now averaging 20.6 points per game this season.

The Sycamores return to the court on Saturday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. when the Creighton Bluejays (10-7, 4-2 MVC) come to Terre Haute. Creighton fell to Illinois State their last time out, 70-57 in Normal, Ill., on Thursday.
