ISU Women's Track Team Moves Up To 18th In USTFCCCA Rankings

TERRE HAUTE, IND.  ? The Indiana State women's track & field team marked their sixth straight week of being ranked in the top 25 of the nation as the Sycamore women are ranked 18th in the rankings released today by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Sycamores were 19th a week ago.

 

The Sycamore women remained fifth in the Great Lakes Region rankings as Indiana State as the top five of Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Indiana State remained unchanged. Indiana State has been in the top five of the region for four straight weeks, climbing as high as fourth two weeks ago. Notre Dame, Purdue, Michigan State, Cincinnati, and Akron round out the Region's top 10 poll.

 

Southern Illinois is the top Missouri Valley Conference school in the rankings as they dropped to 12th in this week's national poll. Indiana State is next at 18th with Northern Iowa 76th, Wichita State 92nd and Illinois State 124th. Other Indiana universities in the national rankings include Indiana at 19th, Purdue 42nd and Notre Dame 55th.

 

The Indiana State men's team remained the 57th ranked team in the national poll this week. The Sycamores are the top Missouri Valley Conference school with Northern Iowa moving up 25 spots to 92nd, Wichita State remained 98th, Southern Illinois fell to 100th, and Illinois State dropped eight to 124th. Other Indiana schools in the rankings include Indiana at seventh in the nation, Purdue 61st, Notre Dame 73rd, and Butler 79th.

 

The Sycamore men also remained at 11th in the first Great Lakes Region rankings this week. Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Indiana remained the top three teams in the Region with Purdue moving up two spots to fourth and Akron dropping one to fifth. Michigan, Notre Dame, Michigan State, Kent State, and Eastern Michigan round out the Region's top 10 poll.

 

Regional team rankings are calculated based on individual athlete's best, performances of the season and their individual regional rankings.
