LARAMIE, Wyo. - In the second annual game of the Mountain West/Missouri Valley Conference Challenge Series, the Indiana State Sycamores (3-5) fell behind early and were never able to get back into the game with Wyoming (3-5). The Sycamores would fall 81-51 to a very tough Cowboy team.
The first half started strong for the Sycamores with Jake Kelly leading the way scoring eight of the opening 10 points. Kelly would finish with 15. The Sycamores began to run cold however, and the Cowboys found their rhythm, going on a 24-5 run. Wyoming took a 12-point lead in the locker room at halftime.
The Sycamores' shooting woes only would get worse, however, with the Sycamores shooting 20% from the field in the second half. Turning the ball over was also a problem for the Sycamores, and the Cowboys were able to score 32 points off 22 Sycamore turnovers. Five Cowboys led Wyoming with double-figure scoring.
Dwayne Lathan led the Sycamores with 18 points while Myles Walker contributed nine rebounds.
Indiana State returns to Hulman Center for their next two games, starting with the Big East's DePaul this Wednesday. The men's basketball game will start immediately after the women's basketball team takes on Eastern Illinois. Tip-off for the women's game is 5:35 p.m., with the men's team set to tip off at 8:05 p.m.
