TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The University of Northern Iowa's two Missouri Valley Conference Preseason All-Conference Team selections showed their talents on Thursday night inside Hulman Center, as UNI's Lizzie Boeck and Jacqui Kalin combined for 34 points to lead the Panthers to a 71-46 victory over the Indiana State Sycamores in front of 3,047 fans.

Boeck tallied a game-high 20 points and 16 rebounds in 26 minutes of play on Thursday while Kalin added 14 points and three rebounds of her own. The Sycamores (6-6, 0-1 MVC) were led by junior Deja Mattox, who scored 11 points and pulled down a team-high nine boards.

ISU grabbed their first and only lead of the contest at the 12:05 mark of the first half, using a 7-2 run to take a 14-13 lead at the game's second media timeout. The Sycamores took the lead on a steal and a fastbreak jumper from sophomore Taylor Whitley.

The flow of the game changed drastically following the timeout, as UNI (8-4, 1-0 MVC) used a three-quarter court press to go on a 12-0 run over the next four minutes of the game to go up 25-14 on a 3-pointer from K.K. Armstrong.

Indiana State did not go away, using a 7-0 run of their own to cut the UNI lead back to four points, closing the run on a pair of free-throws from freshman Anna Munn. That was a close as the Sycamores could get, however, as the Panthers took a six-point lead in the locker room at the half, at 32-26.

Whitley played all 20 minutes in the first half, totaling eight points and a pair of assists while senior Kelsie Cooley added seven points of her own. ISU shot 28% (7-for-25) in the first half while UNI went 13-for-36 from the field (36.1%).

The Panthers put the game out of reach five minutes into the second half, after the Sycamores had cut the lead to five, 42-37, on a jumper by Mattox with 15:20 to go. Over the game's next six minutes, UNI outscored ISU 16-1. The Panthers knocked down a pair of traditional 3-pointers while also converting a pair of old-fashioned three-point plays to take a 58-38 lead with 9:48 left in the game.

ISU could not cut the lead below 19 points for the remainder of the night as the Panthers rolled to victory inside Hulman Center, their first win in Terre Haute since the 2000-01 season.

For the game, Mattox led the Sycamores with 11 points and nine rebounds while Whitley added 10 points, five boards and three assists. Junior Brittany Schoen added nine points and tied her career-high with six rebounds.

As a team, ISU shot just 22.6% from the field (12-for-53) and just 17.9% (5-for-28) in the second half. By comparison, UNI went 26-for-67 from the floor, good for 38.8%. The Panthers dominated the game in the paint, outscoring the Sycamores 26-2. UNI also outscored ISU 15-2 off turnovers and received 21 points from their bench.

The Sycamores will look to rebound on New Year's Day when the Bradley Braves come to Terre Haute for 2:05 p.m. matchup.
